Minerals & Remineralization

The minerals present in the water play an important role in the health of fish, shrimp, snails and aquarium plants. Water that is too low in minerals may not match the needs of the species kept and may lack stability.

Remineralisation products allow you to enrich reverse-osmosis, demineralised or naturally very soft water. Depending on their composition, they can increase the general hardness (GH), the carbonate hardness (KH) or act on both parameters. GH mainly represents the concentration of calcium and magnesium, while KH contributes to the stability of the pH.

The choice of a mineral salt or a remineralisation product depends on the animals, the plants and the type of aquarium. Some species prefer soft water, while others need a higher mineral concentration.

Always test GH, KH and pH before and after preparation. Add the minerals gradually, follow the indicated dosages and ideally prepare the water before introducing it into the aquarium.
