The OASE CrystalSkim is a compact surface skimmer designed to quickly remove surface film, duckweed, dust and floating plant debris from the aquarium.
By continuously removing these materials, it helps maintain a visibly cleaner water surface and supports gas exchange between the water and the surrounding air. It is therefore an excellent addition to the aquarium’s main filtration system.
Adjustable suction for different aquariums
The CrystalSkim’s output can be adjusted to suit the size and layout of the aquarium. Its floating ring follows changes in the water level, helping to maintain consistent surface suction.
Two suction-cup holders secure the device firmly to the aquarium glass while allowing it to be removed easily for cleaning and maintenance.
Ideal for planted aquariums
After aquarium plants have been trimmed, small fragments often remain on the surface and can be difficult to collect with a net. The CrystalSkim removes these fragments before they decompose or spread throughout the aquarium.
It is also particularly useful for controlling duckweed and removing the surface film that can develop in aquariums with limited surface movement.
Additional protection for small inhabitants
The removable protective basket reduces the risk of small fish, shrimp or other aquarium inhabitants entering the device. As with any suction system, the flow setting and the behaviour of very small animals should be checked regularly.

CrystalSkim 350
The CrystalSkim 350 is suitable for aquariums up to 350 litres. Its adjustable flow rate of 200 to 300 litres per hour provides gentle surface skimming for small and medium-sized aquariums.
CrystalSkim 600
The CrystalSkim 600 is suitable for aquariums up to 600 litres. Its adjustable flow rate of 400 to 600 litres per hour provides greater suction capacity for larger aquariums or tanks containing more floating debris.
Important: the CrystalSkim complements the aquarium’s main filtration system but does not replace it. To maintain a healthy aquarium over the long term, it should be used alongside a correctly sized filter, regular maintenance and routine water testing.
Directions for use
Install the CrystalSkim vertically against the aquarium glass, with the floating ring positioned at the water surface. Begin with a moderate flow setting, then increase it gradually until effective surface suction is achieved without creating excessive current.
Check the collection basket regularly and rinse the filter sponge whenever it becomes clogged. In aquariums containing very young shrimp, fry or small snails, inspect the protective guard frequently and use a moderate flow setting.
